Du Motion's 5K for little hero Marko Akrap

alt

On Sunday, April 28, Stradun will once again be painted blue, and a river of runners will flow through the city streets, all because of one special boy - ten-year-old Marko Akrap, for whom Du Motion's charity 5K race is held this year.

Marko is a cheerful and playful boy who, like all his peers, enjoys playing with his friends and helping his mother with household chores. He is also a boy with an extremely rare diagnosis of partial trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) and monosomy 12, genetic disorders that carry a number of malformations and difficulties with them. As a 100% disabled person who does not speak and is dependent on a ventilator, Marko needs 24-hour care, and since there is no specific treatment for such diagnoses, but individualized therapies are determined through continuous monitoring of the condition, Marko's parents live in constant uncertainty, trying to provide him with the best possible care and quality of life.

That is why the big heart of Dubrovnik will beat this year precisely for this little Dubrovnik hero and his family, and with the desire to collect funds with a five-kilometer race that will help them in their further treatment.

Due to its noble character, the 5K race always attracts a large number of runners and sends from Dubrovnik a beautiful image of the solidarity of our citizens of all generations. We are now welcoming little Marko into the fold of the big Du Motion family, to whom we want to convey all our positive energy and support, and we invite the people of Dubrovnik to join us, by running or cheering for runners.

28.4. let's all paint Stradun blue together - for Marko!
