Dubrovnik Runs and Walks Again for Breast Cancer Prevention
Lapad Run, which will take place on Saturday, September 26, reminds us this fall of the importance of regular preventive check-ups and early detection of breast cancer. This sporting event is organized by Du Motion in cooperation with the Public Health Institute of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, also announcing the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"Lapad Run is an opportunity for us as a community to come together around an important message: prevention saves lives. Every step we take on this trail is a reminder of the importance of taking care of our own health, but also a sign of support for women fighting breast cancer," said Du Motion director Alen Bošković.
Participants will be able to choose a 5 or 10 kilometer section and complete it by running or walking at their own discretion. All interested parties can secure their place via the official Du Motion website by September 12, and the number of participants is limited to 150 runners, so it is important to register in time.
The entry fee for the Lapad Run is 30 euros, which includes a race T-shirt and a unique participant medal. 5 euros from each paid registration fee will be donated to the Dubrovnik Cancer League.
Breast cancer is the most common malignant disease in women, and timely detection significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Experienced runners, recreational runners and entire families have been contributing to spreading awareness about the importance of attending preventive check-ups and having an open conversation about health for years. Join them on September 26th in Lapad Bay!
