Lapad Run 2024: many recreational athletes supported the breast cancer awareness campaign

The fourth edition of the Lapad Run race, traditionally organized by Du Motion and the Public Health Institute of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County as an introduction to the Breast Cancer Month, gathered in Lapad Bay many runners in a great mood, who through recreation joined the campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of prevention and early detection of a vicious disease.

 

Among the 153 race participants, in addition to a large number of domestic recreational athletes, there were also several runners from Montenegro, Serbia, the United Kingdom and the Republic of South Africa.

 

The best results in the 10K race were achieved by Tonći Borovac (38:06) in the men's category and Luciana Benić (45:01) in the women's category, setting new best times in the 10K race that have been held by Marin Desnica and Alemka Bajrić since 2021. Ilija Margaretić from BK Konavle (19:09) in the men's category and Jelena Surjan (22:40) in the women's category were the fastest in the 5K race.

"The response of the runners to the race was excellent, and so was the atmosphere in the beautiful surroundings of Lapad. We are glad that we again attracted a lot of local runners, which is the idea of ​​this race, as well as that we supported the important campaign that is being carried out Institute for Public Health of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Our desire is to motivate citizens with this and all our other races to an active lifestyle, which has an exceptional contribution to our general health," said the director of Du Motion, Alen Bošković.

 

Du Motion now turns to preparations for the ninth edition of the globally famous Du Motion - Runners Days Dubrovnik, which will again bring runners from all over the world to the city on April 26 and 27, 2025.
