Dubrovnik ready for record-breaking race weekend
Everything is ready for the jubilee, 10th Du Motion, which is breaking all records this year. During the upcoming weekend, Dubrovnik will host almost 3,000 runners from 55 countries around the world, and the fact that all races are sold out months or weeks in advance best speaks volumes about the status this event enjoys.
Race director Alen Bošković does not hide his satisfaction with the interest that has surpassed all previous editions: “Seeing so many runners from all continents coming to our city is a great confirmation of everything we have been building since the first Du Motion in 2015. Our task remains the same – to show Dubrovnik in the best light and justify the trust of every participant.”
The first runners will take to the start line on Saturday morning, April 25, when the unique Run The Wall starts from Stradun, while a little later hundreds of children will compete for their first medals in the Orlando Kids' race.
Sunday, April 26, brings the Dubrovnik 21K half marathon as the central sporting challenge of the weekend, followed by the most emotional - the Dubrovnik 5K humanitarian race. A record 1,200 runners will run along the route for children without parental care, in a joint initiative of Du Motion and the association "Dad is Dad".
An "army" of over 800 people, most of whom are young volunteers from Dubrovnik's primary and secondary schools, along with city services, the Red Cross, sports and car clubs and the HGSS, will take care of safety and impeccable organization this year.
Join them, take to the streets, applaud the runners and be part of the celebratory Du Motion!
