Lapad Run marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This Saturday, September 26, the sixth edition of the Lapad Run will take place in Lapad Bay, traditionally heralding Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The race starts at 9:30 AM; through both running and walking, the event once again highlights the importance of prevention, early detection, and support for those affected by the disease.
Interest in this year's race was high once again, with registration spots filling up in less than two days.
"Lapad Run is not just a race, but an opportunity to remind everyone together of the importance of prevention and support for those affected. We are delighted that registration filled up so quickly, and, as always, a portion of the proceeds from race packages is dedicated to the Dubrovnik League Against Cancer," noted Alen Bošković, Director of Du Motion.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, accounting for approximately one-quarter of all malignancies in women in Croatia, and as much as one-third of all female cancer cases in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Nationally, up to eight new diagnoses are recorded daily, while in the Dubrovnik area, a new case is diagnosed almost every three days.
Early detection significantly increases the chances of successful treatment, making regular check-ups, information, and public awareness vitally important.
This is the very message conveyed by the Lapad Run, organized by Du Motion in cooperation with the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Institute of Public Health.
