Lapad Run this Saturday: Running and walking to raise breast cancer awareness

The fourth edition of the Lapad Run charity race, which traditionally marks the beginning of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Lapad Bay. All places are already filled, which confirms the great turnout and support for this important campaign.

"We are extremely pleased that our fellow citizens recognize the importance of this initiative every year. Lapad Run combines recreation and socializing in a beautiful location and support for spreading awareness about the importance of preventive examinations and early detection of breast cancer. The sections of 5 and 10 kilometers, which can be run or walked, are adapted to all fitness levels, and the most important message is to promote health", said Alen Bošković, director of Du Motion, adding that 5 euros from each purchased running package will be donated to the League against cancer Dubrovnik.

Remember, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. In the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, a new case is discovered every fourth day, while at the level of Croatia, an average of six new cases are discovered per day. In most cases, it is a curable disease if detected in time, which is why numerous activities are undertaken every year to encourage women to have preventive examinations.

One of these activities is the Lapad Run, which Du Motion organizes every year in cooperation with the Institute for Public Health of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
